Wild Food, Foraged Pizza and Foraging Activities Day.

Join us at Wild Harvest in the rural outskirts of York for a Wild Food Foraging Day.

Starting with a 2 hour fascinating walk to learn all about the wild edibles growing around you, collecting a few to top pizzas and add to lunch.  Back to the tipi site to decorate your own pizza with your foraged finds and fire them in the wood-fired ovens.

After lunch and a chat around the fire to let food settle we will do some fun activities to embed the learning of the morning.  Then those who are still up for it we can do another short Further Foraging walk to meet more plants and trees that you can eat!

You will go home buzzing with excitement, belly full, mind blown as to just how amazing nature is in how she can provide for us in her bounty, as long as we learn to develop a reciprocal relationship.  You will also learn an essential four step safety process you should not be foraging without. Our mission is that you learn to forage safely and sustainably.

  • Join Di for a 2 hour foraging walk followed by
  • Foraged wild pizza - cook your own in the wood fired pizza oven.
  • Foraging related activities.
  • Final wild food walk and action plan to go forward into more learning and        experimenting with wild food!
  • £79 per adult/£10 per youth/Children under 14 sharing your pizza - free.

About your tutor.

Di Hammill Page has been teaching foraging for 20 years, beginning in the wilds of the North Yorks moors where she ran walks for the Forestry Commission and National Parks centres.  A Member of the Association of Foragers and fully insured, Di is a qualified adult ed tutor (with 24 years teaching experience) she loves teaching all about the  Natural world and how we can interact beneficially with it.  See our attended courses page for other courses such as: garden willow, permaculture, basket weaving, natural navigation and more.  Having raised her own three children alone and off grid using what was around them Di and the courses at Wild Harvest are as authentic as you can get!  Her walks are known for being content rich, without waffle, and highly reviewed.  Wild Harvest appeared on BBCs Escape to the Country as the local foraging expert, recently taught Countryfile presenters and also have appeared in various media articles.

If you like the sound of the day, simply book here online, you can pay via card or paypal and we will email you details in the run up to the course.

Please Note:

  • Sorry no dogs, for various reasons, though we do love dogs.

Established and Reliable

We have been around since 2006, one of the longest serving sustainable education businesses. We deliberately don't apply for grants so that we know we can keep teaching into tomorrow. Book us and we will be there. Proven track record of 100% turn up rate.

Affordable

We believe this education should be accessible and aim to price to cover our costs and pay our taxes but also be affordable to you. Sustainable education should not be an elite subject but should be accessible to all. We are not grant funded though so please don't expect us to compete with free temporary initiatives using public money.

Sustainable

Since 2006 eco principles have been at the heart of what we do. It's not a new marketing angle for us; our courses are based upon the original values and lifestyle of our founder who has long lived a life of sustainability and self-reliance.

Some of our F.A.Q

Got a Question...?

Where are you based?

We are based in the rural outskirts of York, 12 miles from the city, but we.do work all over. If you are coming here for your glamping, activities or walks/course then we can be found on Google maps HERE

or Apple Maps HERE

To the wild food walks yes, well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. To the tipi site... Sorry we love animals but we. have a free range sheep, hens and an old labrador. Plus we have a policy of no animals in the units to keep them feeling fresh and ok for allergy sufferers. We are down the road from Storwood Kennels if you need pet boarding.

What if I Can't Make It?

We know you wouldn't want us to cancel on you and hope that you see we book tutors, organise resources and block time out for bookings so we allow you to sell your space on, or gift it to a friend. Or we can offer you online courses and ebooks instead.

What Areas Do You Cover?

If you want to book us to come to you...Our radius for attended walks, courses and activities bookings is approximately from Newcastle in the North to Nottingham in the South, Hull in the East to Manchester in the West. if in doubt just ask in the chat box or enquiry form.

  • Long Established

We have stood the test of time. Established in 2006 we are nearly 20 years old! We have survived pandemics and recessions and are still here. Read our reviews as testimony to how hard we work to keep you happy! Others have come and gone but we are still strong through our professionalism, quality of service for the price, and resilience.

  • Support Female-Led Independent Small Business.

Wild Harvest was set up by a single mum of three... slowly building a business around her children, without any help. No grants, no Daddy's purse strings - just hard work and dedication and determination to provide affordable sustainable education.

  • Reliable - Book Us and We WILL Be There!

Over all our time we have not cancelled a single session. If we commit to being there we will be there. I cringe when I see other teaching businesses cancel for personal reasons regularly letting people down and I truly believe in honouring your booking with my effort to get us there.

  • Quality of Service Combined with Value For Money

Here you will find qualified thorough tutors, and natural, local materials yet we remain more affordable than our competitors due to our mission to provide sustainable education to ALL. This affordable quality in offering services that Don't Cost the Earth is what has kept us going for two decades!
