The Original Wild Medicine Day Course

Back for Spring 2026 at Wild Harvest

About the Course

Wild Harvest’s original Wild Medicine course is back—revived for Spring 2026   First launched in 2014 as part of our crafts retreats and sustainable living events, the course that has previously inspired others to teach these concepts,  is back for Spring 2026!

What is ‘Wild Medicine’?
Wild medicine is the art and science of making your own health-giving and illness-supporting preparations using only what you can find in your kitchen cupboard, your garden, and the wild. This isn’t about buying expensive supplements or following fads—it’s about understanding the plants around you, the chemistry inside them, and how they can genuinely support your body’s own balance.

What Makes This Course Different?

  • Rooted in Real Experience:
Led by Di—raised by a chemist father and a soldier grandfather with plant remedy knowledge from the war, and later raising three children off-grid without mainstream medical intervention. This course is taught by someone who’s lived the journey, not just learned it.

  • A Philosophy of Less, Not More:
Unlike many courses that encourage reaching for a remedy for every ailment, here you’ll learn the very few situations where wild medicine truly has a role—and why building a strong, resilient body is the real goal. We look at concepts of Gaia, and Permaculture to inspire us toward greater self-health efficacy.

  • Qualified, Practical, Honest:
Di is a qualified adult education tutor, Permaculture Designer, Member of the Association of Foragers, 'Steiner Mum' with a strong belief in Anthroposophical Medicine ideas,  survival medic trained, and has 20 years’ experience teaching these skills to others.

What You’ll Learn & Do

  • Handle a Nettle… and Why That Matters:
Learn to hold a nettle without fear of discomfort, note I say without fear of discomfort (not without discomfort)—this is something I get all my 'Teach Foraging' students to do. It's an important metaphor but also an action that shows how we have become dumbed down by quick fix meds; to be 'discomfort-averse'. Reaching for a pill for the slightest malaise, in turn affecting our bodies own ability to remedy itself or to listen to the messenger that is pain.

  • Understand Two Main Roles for Wild Medicine:
Discover when nature’s medicine is truly needed (and when it isn’t).

  • Gain Practical Plant Wisdom:
Learn to identify, harvest, and prepare plants for pain and infection support, plus tips for other common conditions. Although, not really interested in flu and cold remedies Di will help you understand just how elderberries work via their anthocyanins, how Hawthorn berries with their proanthacyanadins, can help with blood pressure and how inulin in dandelion root can work to balance blood sugar. Plants work not by what Di calls 'woo woo plant magic' but by creating their own defensive and protective chemicals to allay fungal attacks, viral attacks and bacterial infections in themselves.  Plants are under attack constantly; at soil level, in the air...  and it's their protective chemicals that can then work in the same way for us: as antivirals, anti fungals and anti bacterial.

  • Make Your Own Remedies:
Get hands-on making ointments, tinctures, glycerites, vinegars and more, using Di’s unique “plant + medium + container = remedy” formula. Take home what you make.

  • Explore Self-Health Through Permaculture:
See how the principles of permaculture can guide your own health and lifestyle choices. Make choosing health easier by implementing some key permaculture design tips into your lifestyle design.

  • Challenge Your Mindset:
This isn’t just about plants—it’s about rethinking how you approach health, discomfort, and self-reliance. It is about creating stronger minds and bodies for yourself and your children.

Read our reviews as testimony to how hard we work to keep you happy! Others have come and gone but we are still strong through our professionalism, quality of service for the price, and resilience.

  • Support Female-Led Independent Small Business.

Wild Harvest was set up by a single mum of three... slowly building a business around her children, without any help. No grants, no Daddy's purse strings - just hard work and dedication and determination to provide affordable sustainable education.

  • Reliable - Book Us and We WILL Be There!

Over all our time we have not cancelled a single session. If we commit to being there we will be there. I cringe when I see other teaching businesses cancel for personal reasons regularly letting people down and I truly believe in honouring your booking with my effort to get us there.
