Join Di at Wild Harvest School, in the rural outskirts of York for a full day of basket weaving followed by a wild food foraging walk. Take your new basket out with you as you learn to forage the hedges along a pretty canal near the Wild Harvest farm.
During the basket weaving day you will learn to weave a round willow basket using two types of weave and finish it off using a fancy plaited effect border.
Outline of the Basket Weaving and Foraging Day with Tipi Stay & Pizza Experience. (N.B. The Price is for TWO People!).
Saturday 10.30am. Meet and Greet over Coffee. Grab a hot drink and settle in to learn about willow.
Weave your basket base, insert and prick up the uprights.
1pm - Break for lunch (bring a packed lunch to be eaten around the fire circle)
After lunch you will learn a new weave and complete the walls of your basket.
Every student then gets 1:1 tuition from Di in order to complete a fancy border that really finishes your basket off professionally.
5.30pm - After a break for the loo and a hot drink, we set off on a wild food foraging walk!
The walk will take place along our local canal which is super pretty. The foraging walk will include an introductory talk all about the advantages and cautions involved in foraging including the law, and avoiding i.d errors.
The wild food foraging walk will last around 1.5 hours and you get to give you new hand-made willow basket a test run. Gather leaves, berries, seeds and stems to take back and identify and sample at home in the recipes suggested.
Spaces are limited on this very full, fun and informative day to just six guests so get booked in soon to avoid disappointment!
7pm - We should finish around 7pm when you can settle into your tipis (You and your co-booker get a tipi to yourselves). Crisp White Bedding and Towels Provided.
As part of this day you get a basic Margherita pizza and can add the toppings you foraged earlier from your baskets!
Cook your pizzas in our two wood-fired ovens. Crack open a beer or wine and cosy-up under our covered fire circle for the evening. This offer is limited to just three sets of two guests.
Sunday 10.30am - Depart for Home before 10.30am!
