Learn to weave your own willow basket in this one day basket weaving course near Montignac/Thenon in the Dordogne, France.

this day is suitable for total beginners, though weaving can require a bit of hand strength full instruction will be given for each section throughout the day. 

Contents of Your Basket Weaving Course in the Dordogne 

You will start the day with a cuppa learning facts about the material , how to harvest it , how to grow your own, or what to look for if buying online. Then you will learn how to prepare the willow for weaving by soaking and mellowing it. 

The morning is spent making the basket base ; learning a pairing weave using two rods to complete the base then select and insert your uprights ready for the weaving of the walls.

After a lunch break (bring a packed lunch and sit with the others out in the woodland ) you will return to your basket ready to learn a new weave ; three rod wale, for the walls .

 

The day finishes with 1:1 tuition with Di, to enable you to complete a pretty plaited effect border that really finishes your basket off .

We are based in the rural outskirts of York, 12 miles from the city, but we.do work all over. If you are coming here for your glamping, activities or walks/course then we can be found on Google maps HERE

Can I Bring My Dog?

To the wild food walks yes, well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. To the tipi site... Sorry we love animals but we. have a free range sheep, hens and an old labrador. Plus we have a policy of no animals in the units to keep them feeling fresh and ok for allergy sufferers. We are down the road from Storwood Kennels if you need pet boarding.

What if I Can't Make It?

We know you wouldn't want us to cancel on you and hope that you see we book tutors, organise resources and block time out for bookings so we allow you to sell your space on, or gift it to a friend. Or we can offer you online courses and ebooks instead.
