Wild Harvest Crafts Retreat UK

We have been running our Self-Reliance Crafts Retreat for 7 years now and it always gets fully booked as we run just one or two a year.  This is a real opportunity to immerse yourself in a relaxing friendly learning enviornment and emerge three days later with your arms full of your hand-made goodies, a heart full of new friends, and a head full of exciting new ideas.

Stay

Get away from the mundane and come and hang out around fire at the tipi sites with like-minded new friends.

Learn

Learn about all aspects of self-sufficiency through workshops plus chats with the tutors.

Make

All our crafts are suitable for beginners and use only natural materials yet produce something useful and beautiful.

The Venue

Our crafts retreats take place at one of our tipi sites in the rural outskirts of York.  Just 12 miles from the city.  Craft Retreat guests have sole use of the site, and usually it is all women.  There is one loo (one min walk from the tipi site) and  one shower, a kitchenette, a cosy cabin with wood-burner, a covered fire-circle with bbq grill and pizza oven.  All site consumables are provided.  There is ample free parking.

The Accommodation

Accommodation is included for free, it does not form part of the charge.  We include it to make it possible for folk to access all the three days of learning.

Accommodation is in four units; three tipis and the pink door hut.  We accept nine guests on the craft retreat meaning two to three per four person unit, or one/two in the pink door hut.

Feel free to bring a tent. if you want more privacy than sharing with one or two ladies.

Bedding and towels are provided.   The accommodation units are shared same sex and can be seen below.

IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING FROM AFAR YOU CAN ADD ON THE NIGHT BEFORE OR THE NIGHT AFTER OR BOTH FOR £20.

Cream Cotton Tipis

We have two cream cotton tipis a huge 5m diameters each, which are carpeted and fitted with boho tables and furnishings.  Mattresses are fold out foam singles with bedding packs provided.  The canvas tipis can sleep up to 4.  In the retreat it would be two to three per tipi.

The Pink Door Hut

The Pink Door Hut accommodation is a small wooden hut on tree stump legs that can sleep one or two.  As with the canvas tipis above, the beds are single foam fold out mattresses with white cotton bedding packs. (pink door hut has now been pre-booked for the June retreat)

The Timba Tipi

In addition to the two canvas tipis and pink door hut above, we also have the Timba Tipi which sleeps two to four.

We can't guarantee which unit you will get, you can request one, but if someone with greater need comes along eg. pregnant or elderly we will offer them the Timba unit.  This is rare but not unheard of!

Food

Due to food regs (and we always keep within the law) we cannot serve food unless we become food registered, keep records and all the admin that comes with it.  As food provision is a tiny part of our overall offerings it's not worth it for us, so we instead get around this by providing you food to cook yourselves; a pizza to top with your wild greens, a baked potato each and packaged toppings for you to heat up over fire.

Included are:

  • All refreshments in pre-packed form eg. snack bars, sachets of tea/coffee etc.
  • A pizza for you to cook in the wood-oven topped with your foraged greens.
  • A Baked Potato /Beans/Cheese/Coleslaw Meal

Please bring food for:

  • One BBQ lunch
  • Three other meals or two and money for a meal out
  • Two breakfasts
