Covid Measures

covid covid measures Feb 07, 2021

In addition to the enhanced cleaning protocol we have elsewhere on this blog, we also have in place the following:

  1. Risk assessment for activities
  2. Risk assessment for venue
  3. Relaxed course cancellation policy.

In summary, we have taken the following actions to reduce risk from Covid-19

Activities:

  • We have reduced numbers to courses, stays and walks to allow spacing.
  • Masks and gloves available free to customers.
  • We do not have more than one group sharing the venue at one time.
  • Teaching staff are briefed in Covid measures, are offered masks and gloves for themselves and are given the choice as to if they want to accept the teaching session, if they don't we don't pressure them.
  • Teaching sessions now have reduced touch points meaning all students get their own pre-sanitised tools and resources bundles, rather than shared tools and materials.  Where a touch point has to be used by a few students  eg. an archery bow, these are sanitised after each use, and participants are asked to bring their own glove.
  • Wild Food walks are pay up front so no cash exchange, and spacing is allowed for by choosing pathways that allow extra spacing plus reducing numbers on walks.  No shared touch points on walks.
  • More activities craft workshops, have been moved outside on tables, rather than in the workshop.
  • Traceability of guests - we always have an email contact for every guest (or head of family group) so we can contact them.
  • We are registered with the governments' Track and Trace system, and have a QR Code on display.
  • We have procedures in place to know what to do if a student gets ill during their time with us.

Venue:

  • We use a knapsack sprayer for any carpet and sofa between groups of guests and use the spray/leave method.
  • We have replaced eco cleaners with bleach and alcohol based cleaners
  • There are cleaning sprays and kitchen rolls at all key areas for self cleaning.
  • Tissues and bins provided at key points.
  • Masks and gloves available free to customers.
  • We have paper hand towels.
  • Paper card waste in the bins is kept separate and incinerated after each changeover.
  • We do not have more than one group sharing the venue at one time.
  • There are hand sanitisers at all key points namely entry/exit of each area of the site, plus loo, workspace, fire-circle and kitchenette.
  • Traceability of guests - we always have an email contact for every guest (or head of family group) so we can contact them.
  • We are registered with the governments' Track and Trace system, and have a QR Code on display.
  • We are registered with Visit England Good To Go
  • We are registered with Air Bnb, performing their enhanced cleaning protocol.
  • We have procedures in place to know what to do if a student gets ill during their time with us.

Terms and conditions updated to allow for Covid related changes of plan.

  • We have a full transfer policy regarding non attendance if a customer has covid type symptoms, so no one feels pressured to come or lose their money.
  • We can transfer guests without quibble if their area or ours is in a tier that prevents out of area travel, or there is a full lockdown.

We would like to thank you in remaining with us at this difficult time, it is vital that sustainable education continues.  We have taught thousands of people some aspect of natural self-sufficiency over 16 years and we have the above policies in place to protect our much loved customers and to ensure that we can keep sustainable education alive into the future.
